Christmas is just around the corner. Hopefully by this time you have your Christmas tree fully decorated with wonderfully wrapped packages all around. If so, good your you. You are light years ahead of most of us. Usually where there is only one week until Christmas I am all out of creative energy and inspiration. However, if you are still feeling creative and want to tackle another Christmas decoration project try a Christmas Mantle.
Obviously, to have a Christmas Mantle one must have a mantle. But if you do not, and still want to create to look of having a great Christmas mantle, you can use to top of a free standing book case, armoire, or entertainment system.
This is a wonderful look. For those who have attempted similar looks in the past, with greenery creating a waterfall effect from the front of a mantle, this project can look daunting. Some looks seem to take a degree in floral design (or engineering) to create. Use floral wire to secure each individual pieces, and attach them to a piece of wood large enough to hold the whole look together. The look can also be created with a much lighter weight material: feathers.
Complete the look with silver. Candlesticks and julep cups. Yellow roses have been placed in the julep cups for added interest.
This natural look combines mixed greenery with pine cones, sugar cones, twigs, and winterberry. The urns containing spiral cedar topiaries help hold the garland in place.
For a more colorful and interesting look try adding ornaments to the garland on the mantle. Mixed with vintage Christmas tree finials, this look adds a lot of charm and color to a once bland fireplace mantle for Christmas.
